Show Notes
On paper, your career looks solid. You’ve worked hard, earned promotions, and achieved milestones. But inside, something feels off. You’re not failing, but you’re not moving forward either. You feel stuck.
If that’s you, you’re not alone. Most professionals hit this stage at some point. Sometimes it follows a big life change, sometimes it comes after a long stretch in the same role, and sometimes it’s triggered by boredom or a lack of growth. The key is recognizing that being stuck doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It simply means something is out of alignment and that can be fixed.
Instead of chasing a quick promotion or rushing into a job change, take a step back and work through what’s really happening. That’s where my Control Your Career process comes in. It’s a five-stage framework you can apply to any career challenge.
The first stage is Realistic Reality, getting honest about your situation. What’s actually going on in your job and your life? Are personal responsibilities, team culture, or financial stress shaping how you feel?
Next is Identity Analysis. Are your values, energy, and work style aligned with your role? Misalignment here is one of the biggest reasons professionals feel stalled.
With clarity comes the Purpose-Driven Plan. Define what progress or fulfillment looks like for you right now, more challenge, more balance, or more recognition, and set goals with intention.
Stage four is Initiate Action. Even small moves, like a candid conversation with your manager, a new project, or reconnecting with a skill you enjoy, can help you gain momentum.
Finally, there are High-Impact Habits. Build simple routines like monthly check-ins, weekly priorities, and networking touch points to keep your career from stalling again.
Feeling stuck isn’t the end, it’s a reset. By working through these stages, you can uncover what’s misaligned and take meaningful steps forward.
